Your Identity
In Christ
International Pentecostal Holiness Church
2 Cor 5:17 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come:
The old has gone, the new is here!”
Now that you are a new creature in Christ Jesus -
what does your new identity look like?
No one has ever actually seen themselves. Most people have looked at a reflection which is not
the same as actually seeing yourself. It is seeing an image of yourself in reverse.
When you look at a mirror, what you see is a
"reflection" of yourself. When you look at a broken
mirror, what you see is a broken reflection of yourself.
What kind of mirror are you looking at?
Are you looking at your identity based on who
other say you are?
Are you looking at yourself based on who you
think you are?
Or are you looking at who God says you are?
In the book of James the Word of God is likened to a mirror:
James 1:23 “Anyone who listens to the word but does
not do what it says is like someone who looks at his
face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes
away and immediately forgets what he looks like.”
Your TRUE IDENTITY is based on what the Word
of God says about you. You are:
a child of God,
COMPLETELY ACCEPTED and BELOVED,
holy and righteous because of what Jesus
Christ has done,
sons and daughters of the King,

forgiven as far as the east is from the west,
a partaker of divine nature,
called and chosen,
an overcomer,
more than conqueror,
God's workmanship,
beautifully and wonderfully made.
When we gave our lives to Jesus, we died to the world and to ourselves. Now we live in Christ and
He is our life. We have no other identity but His.

Who is Jesus?
1. The Nature of Jesus
He is in very nature God (Phil. 2: 6)
It is His nature to do good (Acts 10: 38)
It is His nature to heal (Matt. 4: 23).
It is His nature to give life (John 10: 10)
It is His nature to love (John 15: 13)
It is His nature to serve (Mark 10: 45)
It is His nature to be compassionate (Matt 9:36)
It is His nature to pray (Heb 5:7)
Written by Dale Ross 2016
2. The Power of Jesus—
Power to cure fevers (Mark 1:30 - 31)
Power to cleanse skin diseases (Mark 1:40 - 41)
Power to raise the dead (Luke 7:14 - 15)
Power to open blinded eyes (Mark 9:29 - 30)
Power to cast out devils (Mark 1:25 - 26)
Power to multiply food (Matt 14:19 - 21)
Power to teach and preach the gospel (Matt 4:23)
Power to heal those oppressed of the devil (Acts
10:38)
Power to unstop deaf ears (Matt. 11: 5)

Power to live an indestructible life (Heb 7:16)
3. The Position of Jesus—
Highly exalted (Phi 2:9)
Has a Name above every name (Phil 2:9)
Beloved (Matt 3:17)
Seated in Heavenly Places (Eph 2:6)
Well-pleasing to God (Matt 3:17)
The Son of God (1 John 5:20)
God’s right hand (Mark 16:19)
High priest (Heb 4:14)
King of Kings, Lord of Lords (Rev 19:16)
Now that you are a follower of Jesus what happens?
You need to develop a relationship with Him. Imagine being married to someone who you
never spoke to or never looked at or never noticed or never complimented. The result
would not be very satisfying. In the same way we need to intentionally build a relationship
with Jesus. Talk to Him, look to Him, notice Him in everything and be thankful for
everything He has done.
The only way a person can become strong in the Lord is by dwelling in the secret place.
If you fix your eyes on others and fill your mind with different teachings you will make
yourself as unstable as those sources. If you fix your eyes on Jesus you will be like a tree
planted by a river. Your roots will go down deep into an everlasting source and the
strength of your relationship with Him will be strong enough to weather all seasons.

Fellowship with God, peace and power - this is God's will for us. Jesus paid the ultimate
price for us to have this and it is our inheritance. Through Jesus we have the covering of
the presence of the Almighty God.
The secret place of the Lord is found of anyone who seeks him. He will assist us to lay
hold of all the promises we read about in the bible. All we have to do is simply believe and
then seek God until we have Him so indwelling within us so that we will become a force, a
power of God's abiding, until the time death is swallowed up in victory!
We have a great salvation filled with inspiration. It has no limitations; it makes known the
immeasurable wonders of God and declares the testimony of Jesus Christ.
You need to know the reality of Jesus Christ TODAY. Not just hear of what He has done
for others, but know in your own life what has been accomplished for you personally. You
need to have inward facts, not just feelings...
Psalm 91:1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the
shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
Who will say this of the Lord? He that abideth! He who abides in the Lord knows he can
trust in the Lord.
There is no hostility in the secret place. There's no sharp edges there. Nothing that can
harm us. It is a soft place to fall, a place where we can confess anything, share anything,
lay down any burden, ask any question and simply dwell in the presence of the Almighty.
There is safety there - Nothing from the devil can remain in God's presence. Jesus was
manifested to destroy ALL the works of the devil...
1 John 3:8 “...For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the
works of the devil.”
Romans 8:3 “For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God
sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the
flesh.”
If we abide in that secret place in Him there is nothing in this world, or in us that is of the
devil that can torment us.
1 John 4:17 “...because as He is, so are we in this world.”
Ephesians 5:8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as
children of light.

How can we establish our faith? We need to abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
Don't change your position, but always have the presence of God. Pay any price to abide
under that covering. The secret of victory is just in abiding where the Victor abides.
A Biblical Perspective On Fellowship
1 John 1:7 - But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one
another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.
Hebrews 10:25 - not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but
encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
Mat 18:20 "For wherever two or three people have come together in my name, I am there,
right among them!"
Fellowship is a great privilege, possible whenever the above occurs; in church, Bible
studies, prayer meetings, home groups, with roommates or family. It is how God meets our
needs--it is His "supply line". Are we taking advantage?
Acts 4:32 All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of his
possessions was his own, but they shared everything they had.
The worst thing we could do is to try to imitate the external behaviour of the New
Testament church without going through the internal changes, led by the Spirit. True
fellowship requires at least: repentance, light, judgment (discernment), protection, good
stewardship, the grace gifts and fruit of the Holy Spirit, and real love. All this is possible,
but only "in Christ".
1 Jn 1:3-4 We repeat, we really saw and heard what we are now writing to you about. We
want you to be with us in this--in this fellowship with the Father, and Jesus Christ his Son.
We write and tell you about it, so that our joy may be complete.
Home Fellowship In The New Testament
Church
1 Cor 16:19 The churches in the province of Asia
send you greetings. Aquila and Priscilla greet you
warmly in the Lord, and so does the church that
meets at their house.
Col 4:15 Give my greetings to the brothers at Laodicea, and to Nympha and the church in
her house.
Rom 16:5 Greet also the church that meets at their house...
Acts 20:20 You know that I have not hesitated to preach anything that would be helpful to
you but have taught you publicly and from house to house.
Heb 10:25 Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let
us encourage one another--and all the more as you see the day approaching.

The Church:
Col 3:12-15 (Phi) As, therefore, God's picked representatives, purified and beloved, put on
that nature which is merciful in action, kindly in heart, and humble in mind. Accept life, and
be most patient and tolerant with each other, always ready to forgive if you have a
difference with anyone. Forgive as freely as the Lord has forgiven you. And, above
everything else, be truly loving, for love binds all the virtues together in perfection. Let the
peace of Christ guide all your decisions, for you were called to live as one united body;
and always be thankful.
John 13:34-35 (NIV) "A new commandment I give you: Love one another. As I have loved
you, so you must love one another. All men will know that you are my disciples if you love
one another."
John 15:1-17 I am the true vine... Love each other.
How should Christians be known?
By the hairdo they wear?
By the way they vote?
By their political views?
By the status they have?
By their titles of pastor or apostle or bishop
etc?
By the number of people they share the
gospel with?
Jesus simply said this:
John 13:35 - “By this everyone will know that you are my
disciples, if you love one another.”
Please ask the person who gave you this booklet to show you how to
build a relationship with God, how to pray and what to do next.
